Hello every oneHad quarterly review meeting with my haematologist. Blood work seems to be quite satisfactory but for high MVP at 14 fl, and differential platelet count, it being 52 thousand automated but 160 thousand counted manually. Doctor explained it to be a case of pseudo thrombocytopenia due to congenital macro thrombocytopenia. He said it is, thus, normal and there is nothing to worry about.
Is it really so? Is any other one from the community fits in such pseudo classification of platelet count?

My understanding is that when platelets are low they are often bigger in size than normal because they are younger and our bodies are responding to the low count. Hence the mean platelet volume (mpv) is high. This is expected as our count increases. I don’t believe that is the case for people with platelet counts well within the normal range. I’d ask my doc for clarification.
I agree to what you state, Dahlia. But in my case there is duality of platelet count. Automated this seems to be very low, whereas on mannual count it is reported to be satisfactory at 160000. As to the terms used by my doctor, these are very new to me. Hopefully, there is nothing to worry, as he concluded. Thanks any way.
