Phlegmy covid cough and recovery times

Update: His doctor said that his phlegmy cough was “normal” and wasn’t too concerned. After 18 days he’s finally tested negative for covid and his cough has improved. Thanks everyone for your input!

Has anyone had a covid infection with a phlegmy cough? How long did it take to clear it? My one parent has CLL and is on ibrutinib. He came down with covid about two weeks ago, had three days of remdesivir that started 7 or 8 days after infection. He still has a terrible phlegmy cough and is constantly coughing up mucous. He’s been under a lot of stress lately too which seems to be making it worse. How long does it take to clear the cough before I should start worrying?

He might have a secondary bacterial infection and need antibiotics. Contact his GP. I have had covid twice and always needed antibiotics as I developed a bacterial infection afterwards. I think it isn't unusual. GP should be able to decide based on symptoms and maybe a blood test - depends if testing negative. Hope he gets better soon 🙏🏻

I might be beginning to be in the same situation I went down with what I thought was a bad cold on Wednesday last week Felt out of it on Thursday and Friday Was a bit better on Saturday but a lateral flow test showed I had COVID confirmed by a PCR test. Today I woke up with a lot of mucous and beginning to cough . This is the second time I have had COVID. I'm on W and W and due to see the haematologist next week

I contracted COVID on the 26 Dec and received 5 days of Paxlovid. It is only now 12 weeks later that I am testing negative. Throughout this time I have a productive cough, mainly in the mornings. I have received some 28 days of antibiotics, a chest array, and still have the cough. The mucus is a light green/yellow for the first several coughs and then turns clear.

Currently awaiting the result of a sputum test.

I was in hospital with Covid last July, in January I went down with a long drawn out flu type infection for 2 months (negative test) with loss of voice, and now have Covid again. That’s after 6 Covid jabs and flu jab. Lots of sneezing and coughing:(

I had one or two courses of Clarithromycin

- even after this I had a cough that went on for weeks without a temperature
