This is an update on my earlier post regarding hearing loss.
First of all I am able to report marked improvement in my hearing. My visit to audiologist confirmed that my left ear (better one) had returned to earlier measured levels but that my right ear was below those levels taking it into 'severe' hearing loss. Advised to watch and wait (again) and to introduce steam treatments as problems may be to do with congestion following my chest infection.
Thanks to all of you who responded in such a helpful and positive way.
My concern about further infections (4 hospital admissions with Sepsis in 2022) has led to my wife and I leading a restricted lifestyle. We have 8 grand children who we used to see often but now we don't meet up. Same goes for their 6 parents. Keep looking forward to the weather warming up so we can meet outdoors.
Some of you will be used to these restrictions I guess so I would welcome any advice, particularly on activities. I do make a point of having at least a 30 minute walk every day and am reading more than I used to.
I am finding being a member of this group a great support.
Regards
Ivan

But the repeated infections and isolation is very concerning.
There is a treatment that helps many CLL patients that have repeated infections called IVIG, and we understand that is challenging to get the NHS to apply it to UK patients, but you may want to see if your consultant will try to get it approved for you. For the isolation and contact issues, please read these postings:
I have 3 children, 9 grandchildren (most are over 20) and 2 greatgrands, and anytime my wife and I are around them we use well fitted ffp2 / N95 respirators, and do not remove our masks when we are in the same room with them. This is not always comfortable, and usually very inconvenient, but it (and 5 COVID vaccinations, annual Flu vaccinations plus Pneumonia vacs ) have kept us free of all infections for more than 5 years.
Isolation is only a problem if it bothers one. That is very individual. Introvert hermits care nothing about it. But those who do can take a walk outside with their loved ones when the weather finally improves. Till then frequent phone calls and FaceTime are a solution too.
