Calquence + chest pain

After six months taking CALQUENCE, I noticed light chest pains. Uncomfortable enough to avoid sleeping on my left side. I can still do my normal life, it’s just annoying sometimes.

I’ve been to the ER twice and then checked with cardiologists. They said troponin levels were slightly elevated but nothing to be concerned. They did all routine checks to my heart and nothing came back abnormal.

The last two times that I had alcohol (in moderate amounts), I noticed that this pain came back. As cardiologist recommended, I took Aleve, and the pain went away.

I’m realizing alcohol may trigger these pains. Sometimes even without drinking alcohol at all. My oncologist did not show any concerns. He said to continue taking calquence.

Anybody else experiencing chest pains with calquence? Or noticing side effects with alcohol?

I’ve already tried Ibrutinib, so hoping this drug works for some time without compromising my health!

Wow. With the potential risk of arrhythmias while on Calquence, I would think some sort of monitoring device should be used, at least short term, to make sure these "pain episodes" do not correlate with one. When you went to the ER, was the pain still present, or did it go away by the time they did an ECG?

People often have other arrhythmia symptoms, but it's possible for pain to be the only one. Are you interested in purchasing a small portable ECG device to use in conjunction with a smartphone? Some models allow you to upload the data and send to a physician. Or perhaps you can arrange wearing a Holter monitor to gather data. Ask your cardiologist, I would be doing this if it were me.

thank you! I have an appointment with my cardiologist this week. I’ll follow your advice.

Pain is constant. Started weeks after I started taking calquence. It’s uncomfortable but manageable. However I noticed that when I take Aleve (naproxen), pain goes away. I know it will come back. And for sure alcohol triggers it so I will be avoiding alcohol, unfortunately.

I had cardiac artery spasms and many PVCs when on Calquence. A Holter monitor is a good idea.

yes I would see cardiologist it’s hard to catch an abnormal heartbeat as it is happening A halter monitor would make me feel better. I was told by my clinical study nurse if I had chest pain to take it seriously on Acalabrutinib
