Sorry to burst your bubble but there is no such thing as low carb plant-based unless a very unhealthy variety. Oatmeal is high carb. If you don't get your calories from carbs then you must get them from fats. So which plant-based fats are you planning to eat to get your calories? Do not rush into something that may do you more harm than good. I would study it up thoroughly before I started a radical change in my diet. Not that I have anything against oatmeal. There are far worse carbs that we can have. It's just without proper understanding of what we do we can become a danger to ourselves. My favorite plant-based meal is grass-fed beef.

Making changes slowly is easier on our body. IDK how much oatmeal you had, but IMO it may not have been "the oatmeal" made you ill. If you have been eating something else, especially a more substantial amount of food like many of us, suddenly drastically changed the type and quantity can make us feel ill. Sometimes our body doesn't like sudden drastic changes. I am reminded of an uncle who decided to "eat healthy" and started with about 2 cups of broccoli at one sitting in a huge salad, instead of meat/potatoes for dinner. He had indigestion for hours, he wasn't used to eating raw cruciferous veggies with large amounts of salad, very little protein or fat, and his body reacted strongly.

One meal a day all of a sudden out of the blue? If you last more than a day or two please let me know because I will be very surprised. I have not yet heard of anybody who did one meal a day on a plant-based diet. One meal a day is the holy Grail final stage of a keto adapted carnivore. Because that one meal must contain enough calories to run you for the next 24 hours and unless you have a gorilla like stomach and digestion you won't be able to do it.
I get Afib from physical or emotional stress. It is result of ibrutinib, and now in acalabrutinib. If i do not eat for a long stretch i get stressed and get Afib. So i eat at regularly intervals but not until i am hungry. Oatmeal is a centuries old healthy hearty food. No need to label it as part of low carb or high carb or plant based fad diets or whatever. Body needs variety and not a lot if fried foods, fat , sugar, salt or chemicals. Simple.
Yes I am kinda thinking Healthy thoughts some Foods are not agreeing with st this time .I will add the Healthy foods back in when my body is feeling better..Thank you
Hi, You have had cll for a long time and been without treatment. If you cut out meals and eat unbalanced meals you are in danger of becoming anaemic. Its good to make changes by looking at what you normally eat but you cant change cll. There will be those who dont agree with me but I have found times of worry or stress have made more difference to my numbers. You are doing ok. There is no need to do anything drastic. I am in a bad spot with it now low platelets and a white count at 80, so I believe a change in Diet is needed at this time ..I have.ve a natural health Dr who is working with me ...I Believe in natural healing of my body Thanks Tho .......
I would ask the consultant about platelets. My numbers are great but my platelets dropped. They were ok 2 months later. I have had cll for 21 years. I realise now that I eat healthily. I dont cut foods out but I est oats with rasperies or a small amount of banana for breakfast. A light lunch that varies. My evening meal varies but includes fresh vegetables, beans or peas. I eat meat or salmon. Vegetables roasted with olive oil sometimes. Everything includes veg or beans, some pasta or rice. I dont eat huge portions. I dont purposely exclude food. It cant be wrong because I am in remission. I admire your discipline, Im 65 and cant restrict my diet, Anne uk

Yes I did all plant Based for two months..and now I just added meats Lean mostly...and veggies going to see where. My white count is and cholesterol count ...11 years for me ...

Rice is pure starch, zero nutrition. It's bad. I like walnuts with a little bit of honey too. You can't get calories from flax because if you have more than a very little ground flax you get bloated and sick. Beans are carbs and chock-full of lectins, no good. They contain incomplete proteins Etc. This topic is complicated, before you do anything please read METABOLICAL by Dr. Lustig. There is a lot of learning to do if you want to do it right.
Any "incomplete proteins" can be "completed" by eating foods that are high in the amino acids another food is lower in. I eat flax seed I grind myself, and I am not bloated and sick. The lectins on the outside of the raw beans are destroyed by washing/soaking/cooking, and no one recommends eating raw pinto or other beans. Rice is not "pure starch", it does have some vitamins and minerals, and a small amount of fat as well as protein that can be complemented to make a full amino acid profile such that ones body can make protein. Various peoples have different genetics, not everyone will do well earing lectins or higher carbs, but not everyone will do well on extremely low carb either. Not everyone has access to various food sources either. The Japanese eat fermented veggies and rice and various sea things, they don't have the land to eat a lot of beef or chicken, and they are some of the longest lived on the planet. Are they as a people, smaller because they don't have access to lots of dairy(calcium) and beef? Probably, but they aren't sickly just because they can't eat a high fat/high protein diet that people who thrive in the Arctic regions of the planet do. Any more than those groups are sickly because they don't have a lot of access to tropical fruits and vegetables.
The quality and accessibility of Japanese healthcare plays its part in Japanese longevity. And sticking to the traditional foods the race evolved on plays another important role. I dumbed down the rest. Since you know enough about this topic I'm not worried about you not eating the right way 🙂. My point was that knowledge is power. Vegetarianism can be done in the right way but it is complicated and requires a lot of knowledge while I do not believe veganism can be done in any healthy manner and it is the biggest fad of all time. But that is just me and everybody's welcome to eat whatever they wish.
Body needs all sorts of protein. Beans eaten together with whole grain bread makes them a complete protein. There are people who live to 100 eating beans regularly. A wide range of nutritious foods is good.

Rice has magnesium, selenium, thiamin, protein etc and mostly starch which body also needs. Brown rice is quite nutritious. Zero fat.

Zero fat is too bad. Mostly starch is too bad. The body doesn't need any starch. And everything else it contains can be found elsewhere. But I am sure that carb dependent people will come up with a lot of reasons why carbs are good for you. None of which is true unless you are a top level athlete doing high intensity training multiple times a day. Of course it is much easier to avoid fat, the consumption of which does not trigger a dopamine response in the brain unlike carbs. And unlike heroin and you name it. But feeling good after eating a bunch of carbs doesn't mean that they are good for you. And feeling deprived due to not eating carbs (you know, the withdrawal symptom) doesn't mean that avoiding carbs isn't good for you. Quite the contrary.
Hi beautiful person! So here is my take. I have been a non meat eater forever, since the 80s. I am somewhat on the younger side for CLL, yet I have it. Who knows... is it worth the stress of wondering? In fact, maybe even stress was the factor. One thing is for sure though, in my opinion, eating from the earth at least 80% of the time is just good sense. Dive right in! Don't stay away from fruits b/c they are high in sugar. Enjoy them. Yes it's true everything has carbs but there is quite a difference between carbs in nature and processed food. If it's in a bag it's processed. Should you go crazy and stress yourself? NO. So it can be quite simple to eat fresh and often. I moved to Organic and I see the difference, especially if through a co-op. I ordered from Fresh Direct and one of the items was a huge box of veggies that came from a co-op out in PA. it's fun. Oatmeal, seeds, nuts, beans, fruits, vegetables most of the time, and some "entertainment days..." You will see overall you are protecting other things. This isn't all about CLL, it's a mind set. A plant-based whole-food diet was my goal about a year ago. Still working on it, because it is so hard for me to give up some foods, but what I have done so far has helped my blood sugar. Not sure how it affects my CLL as I am currently in remission. I recommend a book called 'Mastering Diabetes' by Khambatta & Barbaro. It is very detailed and references hundreds of studies about diet. They also explain how to get the nutrients your body needs that aren't available in plants.
Yes I love meat so Did plant Based for two months and now . .Doing lean organic meats ,low carb veggies... Berries cause they are keto friendly... feeling tired but feeling Good ...no fried foods ....
No high fat foods like before....
