I was at my CLL doc in early August. She wanted me to get my fifth vaccine shot (second booster) but I asked her about waiting for the bivalent one that protects against omicron better. She said she hadn't heard anything about when it was coming out and advised me to go ahead and get the regular shot, which I did. Sure enough the new vaccine came out soon after and I have been waiting to get it. My question is: how long after my last vaccine shot do I need to wait before getting the new/bivalent one?

How long after last vaccine can the bivalent vaccine be received?
Country and the booster you are interested in getting make a difference for accuracy of answer.
U.S. Pfizer fact sheet and CDC information is combined in the papers I received when I got the Bivalent---stated 2 months after any previous original two or booster.
Here in Canada, the recommendation is 84 days for immune compromised, and 6 months for healthy persons under 70.🙂
I also had my fifth Covid vaccine (Pfizer all five) in August. I recently asked the question about when I could get the bivalent booster and was told two months after my recent vaccine. My NP said either Pfizer or Moderna for the bivalent was fine. I will be getting the bivalent soon.
Best,
Mark
CDC has an easy tool to tell you when get new booster based age, previous doses, etc.
scroll down & click on "Find out when to get a booster". For me it's 2 months after my previous booster.
