Children’s live flu nasal spray

Morning, my Granddaughters are about to have their annual flu jab, which here in the UK is a live nasal spray. I know I need to keep away from them for a while, but cannot find anything on the NHS website to suggest how long for. Does anyone know or have had experience of this? Thanks

I believe it’s a few days post vaccine that they potentially shed the virus for. I think I would leave it a week just to be sure. Emma

Hi Emma, how are you planning to manage it yourself? Did you speak to your consultant about it?

Hi Petra. How are things with you? I hope everything is going smoothly for you.

I have requested non live injection for the children’s flu vaccine at my GP. They are happy to do this.

Best wishes

Emma

I am finding an "at least 7 days" recommendation on OncoLink:

oncolink.org/frequently-ask...

The document link for the IDSA guidelines is in this article and discuss family members starting Page 20, section e63:

pharmacytimes.com/view/guid...

If it's "attenuated live" the recommendation is at least 7 days. If it's a full on live, I am not sure it's even addressed, I would do 14 days. This is from 2013, I am not finding a more recent one. Better safe than sorry. But I am extremely risk-avoidant. Here's the society's main website, if you want to search for something more recent, there may be a paper or article after the 2013 Guidelines were done:
