IgG testing

Wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to receive results from an IgG blood test? Is it something they have to grow in a culture? I got back the other blood work 3 days ago but the IgG results were not included.

I typically get my IgG count every three months and you are correct. It takes a few more days to get the results back for an IgG count relative to your other standard blood work tests. I would suspect that you can expect them in 4-5 days after your blood draw.

This is my experience too in the U.K. My immunoglobulins don’t come in the same time as my FBC and have been known to take up to a week.

thanks for everyone's replies. Coincidentally I just got the results and they have gone up from a previous count of 590 to 887 so that is a relief.

Wow, good foryou. Mine are down -- 560 (range according to my lab shows that at very low end of normal, but down from last time I had it done).

HiHaving worked in and with UK hospital laboratories for 40 years, there is no reason when the IgG results are not reported well with 24hrs. The vast major of UK labs run GAM along with all other routine chemistry tests on large high throughout automated platforms. So if you routine bloods taken at 9 am the results should be on ICE (reporting system) by 3pm 95% of the time. Its a myth that routine bloods like UE ,LFT , GAM take days they all done same day.

My blood test results hit my phone about a half hour after the blood draw. The IgG test result typically takes about 2 hours after the blood draw.

I am in the U.S. I go to the hospital once a month for IVIG infusion. They run an IgG before ha d - the result is availablr within 2 hours! MsChief

I typically (not always), see a delay in my immunoglobulin test results compared to my standard blood work (CBE or FBC/FBE and blood biochemistry). The two reasons that delay can happen in Australia and which could also apply elsewhere are that:-

1. Immunoglobulin tests aren't done all that frequently, so tend to be done in batches for efficiency reasons. If that's the case for your lab, you might get your immunoglobulin tests quickly if you time your blood test appropriately, otherwise you might need to wait up to a few days.

2. Your pathology lab may have limited local test capability sufficient for the commonly requested testing, but need to send your blood sample for immunoglobulin testing to a larger facility that can do a wider range of testing.

In Greece the norm for IgG results is from 2 to 4 working days. FBC etc are released in a few hours.

I get tested for IgG, IgM and IgA ever time I see my specialist at Dana Farber in Boston every six months. I take the blood work at their lab the Morning of my visit, and one hour after the blood work I'm seeing my Specialist in her exam room with all of the blood test results in her computer. In other words it takes about one hour to get the results.

If you take blood work at a Lab Corp or Quest location, instead of at the medical facility you are being seen at, figure the results are ready in forty eight hours. Those places send the blood out to their laboratories, and there are thousands of other batches of blood being received and analyzed those few days. At the same facility where you see the CLL Specialist, their own labs have everything done in less than an hour. I also see a CLL Specialist in Boca Raton every six months (close to where I live), and then every six months the Specialist I chose to be my mains Specialist, and in the local facility lab at Lynn Cancer Center in Boca they have the results in an hour too.

I get my blood testing done each month and it always includes IgG. Usually the simple testing like CBC comes back the same day but I do not usually get the IgG back till the next day or two.

Here in NZ my IG's are part of my regular blood test panel of about 32 factors and come back with the other results via Manage my Health app on my laptop on the same day of the blood draw. (then I graph the numbers on the spreadsheet ). 😊

I'm in the US and receive treatment at a University Hospital. When I go in for my IVIG infusions the IgG results are back within an hour.

IG's are immunoglobulin, which is a component of the blood rather than a foreign body which needs to be cultured. The turn around time for a test report depends on the labs available technology. One of the labs where I have blood drawn provides results in 30 minutes whereas another takes two days.

A lot depends on where your test was done. If it is in a facility that has the capability of analysis on site it is quicker. If it has to be sent out, it can take longer. My blood work is done every 6 weeks just before my IVIG infusion. The lab is in house and I usually get my results the next day.
