Vitamin B12 help with CLL?
Interesting question!
Why would you ask?
No - I think is the simple answer. Any more than folate or iron will increase Hb.
Unpick it a bit - gets more complex.
A lack of B12 will cause the Hb to drop - replacing B12 would then cause the Hb to rise again to a normal level. Adding more and more B12 will not cause the Hb to continue to rise and rise. . Same for Folic Acid and iron. And given the other parameters are normal levels.
A lack of B12 and folate will cause the red blood cell to increase in size. A lack of iron causes the red cell to reduce in size. If you have a lack of all three - the result is a hybrid change ofcourse. Uncommon!
Unpick a bit further - conditions that affect B12 folate and iron can themselves affect red cell production. CLL can reduce Hb - for example by B CLL cells crowding out the bone marrow. One indication for CLL treatment starting.
Haemoglobin may increase or decrease for many reasons.
If the Hb is rising a cause should be looked for - and this is where you need to speak to your favourite Doc!

Highly unlikely. All depends on your reason for low Hb….My hb is 76, so pretty low and the reason I’ve started treatment so soon after diagnosis. My actual iron levels, ferritin, B vits are all fine. Reason for my Hb level is due to CLL crowding out my bone marrow.
