My husband left a sperm sample for IVF after using Imbruvica. Does anybody know if there are any risks for the baby?

Hi Ehvt,

-

Please see this site: drugs.com/pregnancy/ibrutin...

-Male patients should not donate sperm during therapy and for 1 to 3 months after.

Do not father a child while taking IMBRUVICA and for 3 months after stopping treatment.

Use condoms and do not donate sperm during treatment and for 3 months after your treatment has finished. If you plan to father a child, talk to your doctor or healthcare professional before taking IMBRUVICA.

Answer from Dr. Furman: We do not know the risks related to ibrutinib and pregnancy. Some of the enzymes that are inhibited do likely play an important role in fetal development. With that being said, you are correct that the amount of ibrutinib transferred in semen is likely minute but is also unknown.
