William, good luck with treatment. I take Calquence. I eat gumbos, etouffees, shrimp creole, jambalaya and fricaseed rabbit. I make a great 4 pepper chili from my own recipe. On the healthier side I make a good Apple chicken salad with apples, chicken, celery, red onions and fresh eggs.

Grilling burgers today to watch the games and some andoullie sausage.

While I do try to eat healthier, calquence hasn’t changed my diet much. Grapefruit should not be eaten. I haven’t had grapefruit since my diagnosis. To be fair, I didn’t eat grapefruit before either. Good luck with your treatment.

Who on earth told you a BRAT diet is a requirement for Calquence initiation? I think you have either misunderstood something, or else that person did. Because it's NOT a "requirement." In fact, the BRAT diet is no longer recommended, period. The American Academy of Pediatrics used to recommend it, but no longer. Because, as you noticed, it's not very healthy.

It was developed in 1926 for children having diarrhea, after the fact. Not as a preventative. And modern medicine says it's no longer used/recommended in kids, and that it can actually prolong digestive issues.

Hmmm sounds like she has well meaning but outdated advice. My doc tells me to use loperamide & maintain hydration when I have diarrhea, and "eat lightly".
