CLL Astra Zeneca and blood clots

Is anyone aware of increased risk of clots in CLLers who have the AZ vaccine?

Good question...I'm not sure if anyone knows really! Asked my doc the same question. He didn't think the risk was any higher because of CLL and he said that if you do happen to have a blood clotting event after the AZ vaccine it mostly happens after the first vaccine...so if you were good after the first one, you should be good after the second one too...

It's just a lot of IFS, isn't it...

I'm due my second AZ jab next week and am 41.

I’ve had both my AZ jabs, with mikd, short-lived side effects. My sister, otoh, who doesn’t have CLL, had what she thought was Bells Palsy a few days after her first AZ jab. On investigation (CT scan), they diagnosed the rarer Ramsey Hunt syndrome... Bell’s evil twin. She had also had a subarachnoid bleed. She was in hospital for a few days, while they thought about it, but has been home recovering for a few weeks now. Not 100% there, yet, but getting better.

Although there is no proof that the onset of her symptoms were caused by the jab, her 2nd AZ appointment was cancelled, and rebooked for Pfizer. Co-incidence? Playing safe? Who knows?
