I have MS and CLL, my Cardiologist suggested I be removed from blood thinners due to past PE's and DVT's. He said to talk to my Oncologist. Has anyone here had the same situation?

Blood Thinners and CLL
Hi! I am on Eliquis because I had two large blood clots come up suddenly in my abdominal aorta, with CLL being the presumed cause. I was lucky to get to the ER and surgery before even worse damage, but my spleen was badly damaged. I expect to stay on Eliquis for life or until possibly cured of CLL someday. I have been on W&W for 11 years. The clots were 5 years ago. I feel safer on Eliquis than not.
You have had quite a year.. Sorry to hear it.
I am a little confused by your post [it is possible to edit if there was a type.. click ‘More..’ below your post, and then click ‘Edit’ ..after altering text, click Edit Response, which should be below your post.]
..does your doctor want you taken off blood thinners?
If so, why?
Your history of PE and DVT, along with CLL = haematological disorder, are reasons to remain on blood thinners.. (I am in this situation)
Why does cardiologist think you should come off blood thinners?
Did they say?
Which blood thinner are you taking?
Have you been seen by a hospital thrombosis specialist consultant?
— I found the latter was very helpful and expert, where my renal consultant was perhaps more carelessly optimistic.
MSGMP, did the Cardiologist say why you should not be taking the blood thinner?
I also am on Eliquis because of a past DVT & PEs. They’re the reason I’m taking the blood thinner, so I’m confused by your post too. Your cardiologist’s logic seems backwards!

I also have ms and cll. I also have cardiac issues. ( Nov 8, 2019 quadruple bypass, followed by dec 31, 2019 m1, and feb 15 2020 MI) Both heart attacks were from failures of one of the grafts, which is now fully stented from end to end. I am now on Brillanta, a blood thinner, which is typically prescribed for one year after a stent has been inserted., My cardiologist has extended it for at least another year. When I finally began treatment for the CLL my oncologist started me on venetoclax instead of calquence. I continue successfully on both., with both doctors coordinating.
