Depends on what's in the cold and flu tablets! Some compounds can worsen the side effects from Ibrutinib. See: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo....

Its unwise to take medication that would mask a fever!

I don't take paracetamol or non steroidal antiinflammatories.

I need to know if my temp goes up.

AussieNeil 's point probably even more important.

Always check with your Haematology Team.

I took paracetamol whilst on Ibrutinib with Consultant’s consent. However beware of certain ‘cold and flu preparations’ that can raise blood pressure. Some also contain anti inflammatories which are contra indicated with Ibrutinib. This is an excellent article explaining the links;

I take brufen regularly for joint pain and my oncologist supports it. I have found a brand called Flarin which bypasses the usual tummy upsets. Ask your Dr but taking over the counter drugs for the common cold for a little relief is something I do regularly.
