Lemons /Lemonade?

Hi. I'm starting Venetoclax. I love orange juice and lemon juice. Most of the time I make them at home. Is there anything known about these two not being recommended? I know about the grapefruit and starfruit and certain oranges. But not sure about other citrus fruit. Thank you.

Dorito the problem fruits are grapefruit and Seville oranges--a bitter tasting orange (they use the peel in marmalade and in some baking goods, star fruit and pomegrantes have been mentioned also as two not to eat while on the new treatments for CLL. So it would be good to check any orange flavored baking goods to see if the ingredient is Seville oranges.

Orange juice and lemon juice have not been stated to be a problem with Ibrutinb or Venetoclax.

Thanks. I think those Seville oranges are what we call in Puerto rico "naranjas"(even though that's what oranges are called by Spanish speakers anywhere else except PR) We call them "chinas" and the bitter ones Naranjas and the leaves are used for tea too(for upset stomach) the ones I use are "Chinas Valencia" and some Navel Oranges.

I was just worried about other citrics. I'll start with one Venclexta today and increse every three days until 800mg. Tomorrow I'll take 10 decadrons. Repeat every Monday. I've used decadron before, so I know about the side effects. Hope I can get some sleep though.

Is it better to take Venclexta in the morning or at night? I've used Revlimid in 2014 and Pomalyst 2016 and doctor recommended I take after supper so Icould sleep off some of the tiredness. Does V make you tired too? I ope it's not too bad I can hardly do anything or stand without my walker because of bone and neuropathy pain. When I was diagnosed in 2002 doctor said it seemed I had Myeloma for some time because my hips already looked like "swiss cheese" and bone metastasis was extensive.

Whatever ya'll have as experience you're all welcome to share.

Thanks.

You may get some answers to your other questions from those on Venetoclax, but you might be better served to type another post with Venetoclax in the title to get the attention of others.

I can empathize with you in regard to the bones. I have the beginnings of some bone lesions in my pelvic area, but not had any treatment nor been shown to disturb my Dr.

I also am having degenerative disc issues with nerve compression. It isn't fun at all.

I hope you can get your questions answered by people with experience on Venetoclax.

Are you being treated for CLL or multiple myeloma? For CLL the usual dose of venetoclax is 400mg.

Dorito,

I was allowed to drink orange juice and lemonade. The restrictions are with seville oranges, grapefruit and starfruit.

Other interactions to avoid are in those containing CYP3A4 inhibitors.

accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatf...

Studies are showing CBD's to have CYP3A interaction also. It is apparent that CYP3A interaction influences the leukemia cell to migrate from peripheral blood to the lymph nodes and spleen where they are more difficult to treat.

Always consult with your physician with question regarding interactions. Our individual prescription(s) and coexisting conditions are not always the same, E.g, I was taking omepresole and diclofenac which influences metabolic process and liver enzyme also.

Responses between individuals can be very different regardless of published data.

Hope you can enjoy the lemonade.

Are you sure about that 800 mg dose of Venclexta? Most CLL patients (myself included) ramp up to 400 mg and remain there until the treatment has run its course.

You can drink both orange juice and lemonade as well as watermelon, mango, lime, apple, strawberry, raspberry etc. because we need to drink a lot while on Venteclax I usually do a picture of of several fruits in water or seltzer water.
