There are a number of possibilities for the swollen fingers. Similarly there are other possibilities for the hip. None of them may have anything to do with CLL.

Is he taking any medications for other conditions?

The fact that there are 2 isolated fingers with swelling suggests tendonitis or something similar. Has he been working with his hands?

If both conditions persist it would be advisable to consult a doctor.

Does your husband have arthritis? I also have some badly swollen fingers and generalised joint issues but I have pre-existing arthritis. It’s something he’ll need to see his GP about.

Best wishes,

My middle finger on my right hand has been swollen and sore when I move it , the bone under my right knee hurts all the time as well I’ve brought it up with both my Drs and they both dismissed it and one the knee could be osgood-schlatter’s , the finger could be arthritis setting in. I also have off and on top foot pain. This has been noticed since I was diagnosed with SLL , but maybe it was there prior I just attribute every thing to this now. I would say it has nothing to do with his cll but it’s worth showing the Dr at the next appointment so you can have a clear mind over this.

Best wishes

John

I am no doctor, but for me swollen hands (fingers) is a sign of dehydration. If his urine is clear (or near clear) then it’s not the problem, but if it’s somewhat dark, have him drink a lot of water over a few days to get rehydrated.

Hi, When I was on imbruvica my R hand became swollen. Wasn't aware of any thing I had done to aggravate it. Dr. said it was a wrist tendonitis and I was put on a pednisone. Definitely helped, although my wrist was touchy for many months after. My husband who does have bad arthritis in both hands , gets injections which help. At this point, Dr.said next would be knuckle replacements. Hope he finds some treatment that will help.

Just a palliative remedy: I am octogenarian and my hands have shrunken to bones, skin and blood vessels. I wear cotton gloves over them, and for household work over them medical gloves. The white dermatology cotton gloves come by dozens in boxes and are inexpensive from Amazon. At least that may protect the swollen fingers.

Hi, I experienced having swollen fingers without pain for about a year during wait and watch. I went to a GP, rheumatologist, Oncologist, allergist, & a cardiologist. No one was able to help. I finally noticed that it would happen most often when I would come back from the market or after eating salty foods. When I would carry heavy plastic grocery bags or a heavy purse, putting strain on my fingers, it would trigger it. It would also happen after doing strenuous work using my hands. It would occur daily. Eventually, I switched to a shoulder bag, started carrying shopping bags in my arms and stayed away from salt. Thankfully, It eventually ceased happening. I hope he finds a remedy soon.
