Hubby has CLL which has been brought under control with Ibrutinib. He has just been diagnosed with small bowel Cancer and awaiting discussions over treatment. Can anyone advise, as I'm feeling somewhat emotional? He is 72.

Hi Fussyb's!

I am sorry to learn of your hubby and his 2nd cancer. I fully understand how you must be feeling.

Do you have more detail about this cancer?

Exactly where it is and what stage it is at?

Cancer of the small is very unusual.

Generally cancer of the bowel - bowel cancer relates to large bowel, this is the colon.

I will await you clarification and hopefully can give you some helpful comments.

Duodenum. Large blockage in "tube" that goes from stomach into top of intestine. Can't say anything more as we haven't had the full story from the docs yet. He had an endoscope and 5 biopsies and they managed to perforate the wall of his stomach too. This has caused him a lot of pain.

Duodenal cancer is rare, I doubt a family Dr will see one care in a career.

I suggest you get all the info and detail - then check out a forum that may cover this.

I am not sure where you are based , but one of the UK major cancer centres - Royal Marsden or The Christie - would be worth investigation. Other centres do exist.

Meanwhile - stay in touch here of course. Maybe someone on this Forum has had a similar experience.

Thank you - we will know a bit more on Tuesday when the docs all meet up and video link with Leeds(which are apparently the experts). I have looked it up on Google and feel a little more positive so we will have to see what they tell us.

Oh dear! I am so sorry to read this. My hubby is under control with Ibruitinib also and 72. Hoping it was caught early. I can understand you feeling emotional. Lie down and take deep breaths when you can. So sorry I am not much help. Oh and positive thinking. If the bad thoughts are taking over, try to push them away with positive ones. At least that is what I would do.

Hoping the best for your hubby!
