CLL, the marathon, and me: I did it!

Hi everyone, I promised to update you. I finished the Yorkshire marathon last Sunday, in 6hrs 17min 40sec, 10 minutes better than London. I have shown what is possible when living with CLL. A bit tired, needless to say,But very happy 😀.

Thanks again for all the lovely comments and to those who sponsored me for Bloodwise, If you would still like to donate just drop me a line on the chat. Now off to an event about the Macmillan Recovery Package. Will be great to present views of blood cancer patients. Interested to hear if you have heard of this or have benefited, conversely if you have not heard about it is also interesting to hear. Speak soon.

Hi Davdow

My mobility is measured by how far away from me the taxi is ...

But, I have fond memories of my football playing youth, and the fact that I could run distance.

Me ol' dad was county schools sprint champion, but for me, I prefered cross country ... 10 miles, maybe ... but I never did 26+.

Wait a minute ....

You,ve just bust my happy balloon of memories ...

Your the better athlete ...

Older with a leukaemia, your running more than twice my distance AND creating personal best times ...

Oh well ...

I'll stick to my memories ... ( you know the ones where it was always sunny and things went well ).

The alternitive would be to get mesel' one of those 'racing ' wheelchairs and join in ... I could do a marathon in one of those ...

but on second thoughts, Mrs ygtgo wouldn't allow me ...

She'd end up pushing me the whole way round !

A new personal best, and your a ' bit tired ' .... Brilliant !

Davdow,

I think you're being extremely modest in all of this!

I am hugely impressed and grateful there are fit folks like you prepared to make such a massive effort to raise money for research.

Well done! :)

Well done. I would like to find out when CLL awareness marathons to raise money for research are held in the states. I tried Googling it, but found nothing. Any ideas?

Having run 7 marathons, 5 under 3 hours, I am VERY impressed that you could do it and be a patient with CLL. Congratulations!
