I try to make an appointment with Dr Wierda at MD Anderson but he’s not available at least for a month. Do you recommend any other doctors? Dr Thompson? Probably all doctors there are good.
Anyone knows Dr Prithviraj Bose? he's available earlier.

I recommend Dr. Jain. He is running a lot of clinical trials, including the iFCG that gets everyone MRD undetectable (for IGHV mutated patients). He also has other trials for unmutated patients.
Dr Jain is my specialist but after 3.5 years I feel it’s time to move to another he’s very busy with his research and when I see him he seems to be always hurried.
Presuming you're in the active -surveillance stage then a one-month wait is just a minor blip in the road. Most HU-CLL members outside the USA would be over-the-moon at such a short wait-time as 4-weeks.
IMO. If it's Dr. Wieda you had your eyes set on .... then be patient and wait for a month.
Thanks Caven. My husband stage is already advanced with enlarged spleen, liver and low platelet count (77). and he receives no treatment yet. That's why I'm really on fire here.
There are lots of all stars on the MD Anderson All Star team but most would agree that Dr. Weirda is the captain of the team. That being said, I don’t think you can make a bad choice at MD Anderson.
I see Dr. Alesandra Ferrajoli. She is a wonderful doctor. Her whole team, the nurse and the PA, are top notch. I travel from Atlanta to Houston just to see Dr. Ferrajoli. Best decision I have made was to get established with Dr. Ferrajoli.
I currently see Dr. Wierda and couldn't be happier. He put me in a trial that Dr. Jain was running which just ended for me. I've been MRD negative for over a year. I love Dr. Wierda but I agree that you can't go wrong with any of the doctors at M.D. Anderson.
Dr Thompson is Dr Keating's protege, I believe. My husband was Dr Keating's patient until he stopped seeing patients. While he was his patient, Dr Keating recommended my husband to Dr Thompson, if Keating was out of the hosp. during a visit. My husband is now seeing Dr. Weirda, but I think Dr Thompson is wonderful, also. Dr Jain is my friend's dr and she likes him very much, though says he's all business. I find Dr. Weirda on the business side, also. Dr Keating has the best bedside manner. I miss him on our clinical trial visits.
I have seen Dr. Thompson twice...most recently the first of this month. My husband and I really like him. He takes time to answer questions, is very knowledgeable, and is also very pleasant. I am also thrilled that the treatment course he recommended has worked well for me!
hubby has Dr Burger. I’ve gone to all of the appointments. We like him. We saw Dr Wierda once when Burger was on vacation. Wierda talks a bit more freely, but Burger is patient and happy to answer any questions.
