Imbruvica does cause swelling.

Try to limit salt intake and drink lots of water.

In my case I swell when I don’t drink enough water.

I did after binging on salted popcorn. I reported to my doctor right away; he prescribed a diuretic, which I never used—swelling subsided. I noticed a repeat of swelling after a potato chip and salted pistachio binge. Check your salt intake, but also contact your doctor.

I had been on IB for 4 months. Both ankles had gotten huge. I was immediately taken off of IB, and situation was assessed. It seemed that the dosage of IB was too high/strong for me. It had affected my production of red blood cells. I was eventually reintroduced to IB, and now take 2/3 of full amount. Don't wait for your appointment, but call and let them know now.

Thank you for posting this question. I have had swelling in the ankles for several months now, but started ibrutinib in Oct of 2016. Walking at least a mile per day keeps the swelling down which leads me to suspect that it is lymph fluid not draining properly. I asked Dr. Weirda on 2 separate appointments and he said that my blood pressure was fine, I'm already on the low dose of 140mg ibrutinib per day, and not to worry unless it comes and does not go away. I did have a cardiac workup, stress test, etc. and all results were normal. In Feb. I am scheduled to see my primary care physician and plan to ask her again, perhaps a diuretic would be appropriate, but I am concerned about taking one while on ibrutinib and my water intake is quite high. While I do not add salt to any foods and eat mostly fresh, not pre-prepared foods, I do enjoy my potato chips on occasion.
