Hi
Can anyone explain the kappa & lambda designation? I am predominately Kappa but really don't know what that means.

This isn't light reading, but not too wonky to get the gist of either. I hope it helps you see the significance for diagnostics.

Thanks for posting this. It isn't too "wonky" for sure. We have always said this is Greek to me. It is interesting about each lab having different protocols. Unlike the CBC, flow cytometry is an interpreted result, from a pathologist, but also depends on techniques in the lab to present a consistent sample....interesting for sure.
Hm, unfortunately I am struggling to wrap my head around this. My Free Kappa/Free Lambda ratio is 2.38 (Free Kappa Light Chain is 2.09 mg/dL and Free Lambda Light Chains 0.88 mg/dL). This is higher than the normal range it looks like. I found a Dr. Susan Leclaire video where she relates it to MM. But what does it mean with regard to CLL?
Don't worry about the minutia...
Its not a prognostic indicator in either the CLL-IPI or iwCLL that I'm aware of...
This goes into more detail ...
