I'm treated at that MD Anderson. My oncologist just suggested that I try cd20 shots. I'm very fatigued and the idea is that this may help. Has anybody gone through this have is a painful is it worth it let me know thanks guys
Cd20 assistance: I'm treated at that MD Anderson... - CLL Support
Cd20 assistance
Do you mean CD20 Rituxan infusions? Perhaps IGHV infusions?
I'm not aware of any CD20 shots used in CLL...

No treatment no rituximab or anything like that. It is a cd20 protein. This replicates is cd20 protein and increases it. Cll attacks protein and reduces it
I'm sorry Swissnology,
You have stumped the panel. Chris, Cllady and I have lots of experience with CLL terminology, but have never heard of CD-20 injections.
I had Rituxan immunotherapy infusions and Rituxan (Rituximab) as well as other monoclonal antibodies like Gazyva (Obinutuzumab) specifically target the CD-20 proteins on the surface of B-Lymphocytes and cause the immune system to destroy those cells. My infusions of Rituxan cured my fatigue problems and treated my CLL at the same time.
You may need to check with your doctor to get a clarification, whether he is suggesting treatment with Rituxan or Gazyva, if not, please share his response and we will all learn together.

Just a quick mention that someone last week mentioned Rituxan injections sub-cutaneouly, that as I understand was just passed in the USA. Perhaps this is what is being referred to?

But even Sub-Q is using the presence of CD-20 on the surface of B- cells as a target/receptor for Rituxan and mark those cells for destruction by the immune system. IMO it's not adding CD-20, its finding the cells that have CD-20 on them.
The mechanism of injecting CD-20 protein would seem to be opposite to that. Unless a researcher has found that some activity involving CD-20 is what releases Cytokines causing the fatigue sensation when anemia is not the cause.
I am also puzzled by the statement "Cll attacks protein and reduces it" I have not heard of that mechanism either. I thought that CLL cells were ineffective and did not trigger any immune response.- They only lived too long and occupied space by rampant reproduction. That only NK cells, T cells and healthy B-cells attacked other cells.
I am very interested in learning more about this concept.
