Hi All,

I'm curious to know whether or not anybody has experienced weight gain following six plus months of taking Ibrutinib? Thanks

Hi Pilantd,

I haven't gained weight (I've lost weight) but gaining weight is pretty common on ibrutinib.

Best,

Fell

Yes I have and I am going crazy. I cut back so much on calories and have been exercising. I didn't know that was a side effect. Diplomat pharmacy didn't say it was a common side effect.

Yes, I might have put on 10 pounds. But I now look healthy. I have been baking bread, cookies, pizza, etc. I was so sick that I was a mere couch potato before Ibrutinib. I am back to doing all the things I used to do before CLL, and baking and eating are two of them. I take my labs on daily hikes, garden, sew, read, etc. I love life again. Sally

I lost weight, but was losing before I started it. Have lost more since starting, but most of that was due to diarreah, some attributed to the Ibrutinib, but mostly due to gall bladder surgery in June. In retrospect, starting Ibrutinib just two months after gall bladder surgery might not have been the best plan of action!

Diarrhea has pretty much gone, but I still have no appetite. Am holding on to my weight, but just barely. I have to make myself eat regular meals. If left to my own devices, I would survive on bagles, fruit and ginger ale. Not a great diet!

Thanks for your collective replies. I've gained about 40 lbs over the past year. My primary side effect since beginning IB has been insomnia and chronic fatigue. Not sure its related to IB but this condition has been a struggle. I'm currently getting myself motivated to get more exercise and trying to figure out a more appropriate diet.

I gained a bit. I know other people that have. I think one of the biggest factors is as the nodes go down in size that allows more space in the stomach ....

Also with less disease burden the metabolism changes back more to normal .

Being vegan now has helped more control my weight .

Be well,

Hoffy
