I have a granddaughter who has Down Syndrome. Her WBC is low, 3, and ANC is 1.1. I know both are low and trending slightly down but I am unsure of the meaning. We are aware that children like her have a tendency toward leukemia. I thought leukemia meant a high WBC. Hg and platelets are good.
Thoughts and any suggested other tests?

Has she had tests specifically for leukemia? I would suggest ruling that in or out with a specialist for everyone's peace of mind if the counts don't recover on their own in a reasonable period of time. Hopefully you will soon be posting that numbers are up and all is well!
There are many leukemias, all have special testing, CLL is a lymphoma... do you know which FISH panel was done?
Certainly a flow cytometry should be preformed to rule out B cell lymphomas/leukemias, but there are many other tests for T cell lymphomas, Philadelphia chromosome, seen in AML, CML and so on...
It a process on testing and elimination...
Hopefully nothing will be found, and low counts are just an anomaly
