WBC is 30 now

I went to my 3 month checkup with my oncologist today and my wbc went from 21 to 30. Hope I’m just fighting off something. Lymph nodes haven’t changed and still W&W, but I am more tired and some headaches but nothing that would keep me down. Just surprised it went up that much so I’m a little concerned. Go back in 3 months. I think I’m going on a serious watching what I eat. Haven’t been doing so good on that.

Importantly, was there a significant increase in your ALC (absolute lymphocyte count) Michelle? My WBC jumps 10 points every 3/4 months now and it can be attributable to so many things. The labs to watch are your ALC, platelet, RBC/haemoglobin and neutrophil levels.

However, it’s always of some concern when we see any increases but it could be due to an underlying sub-clinical infection which will resolve next time. Nothing to get too concerned about at those low levels however. The WBC can flutuate madly.

Best wishes,

Newdawn

Thank you. I haven’t gotten any other lab results yet but should this week and I’ll definitely check those.

Blood counts bounce around, while the absolute lymphocyte count [ALC] is under 30K there isn't much concern of CLL progression... over 30K then you will be monitored more closely, looking for trends over 6 months or a year or two.

Hi Michelle

Mine is around 98 WBC feel good, tired at times but still treatment free - numbers are not everything it's nearly 8 years ago I was diagnosed with a wbc of 27 it goes up and down.

In the early days hated the the watch and wait and going for Blood test's now still hate it but I am more chilled about it I guess you have to find your way but all is not doom and gloom

Wow! That’s Great news. I going to start keeping up with the ALC numbers. What are your ALC numbers. I’m so thankful to have not had to have treatment and hope I never have to.
