Hi Sammi
I'm 45 and the experience I have had this year (diagnosed February, rapid development, FCR treatment and now remission is documented by this post that I pulled together from the various blog posts I wrote during the year. Hope it is informative if nothing else.

Hi Sammi and it’s great to see that you’re being a supportive mother-in-law in trying to learn about CLL. The links Chris has posted are excellent and well worth working through.
It must be hard seeing your daughter and son in law going through this and it’s understandable you wanting to know how you can help. I’m five and a half years since diagnosis and have yet to tell my mum in law but being the very advanced age she is, I’m hoping I’ll never need to tell her.
If there’s anything you need to know or anything we can support with, please ask. CLL affects the whole family but having the support and understanding of family members is very valuable.
Best wishes,
Newdawn
The good thing is you have time to learn . The CLL Society Web site has a lot of good information .
Before getting treatment make sure to see a CLL specialist many of the hematologist are not up on the latest targeted drugs.
You're in the right place. This blog has more information than you'll probably ever get from your hematologist - unless he/she is one of the rare "CLL specialists". Pay special attention to posts by Chris (CLLCanada), Newdawn, AussieNell, and the other "administrators". They'll direct you to some important new findings before most even know there's a study.
Also, take note of the tremendous drug advances that have been made in recent years. No more (or very little) harsh chemo, just mostly pills that are far better. And, the advances keep coming! CLL is not a "fun" disease, but it's no longer the "10 year death sentence" that it once was.
KEEP YOUR CHIN UP!!!

You’ve found the right place for all your questions. My husband was diagnosed almost 2 yrs ago and is thankfully still on W&W.
I have learned so much about CLL here, far more than even from his specialist. The main thing we have grasped is that the “chronic”’part of CLL has allowed us lots of time to absorb all the information about it, ask our questions, and most importantly continue with our lives. It most certainly is always in the background, lots of times in the foreground, but our lives have moved forward.
Please don’t hesitate to ask any and all questions.
Thank you all so much. Wish I could thank you in persin
