Very high neutrophils

Hi

My husband has been prescribed injections twice weekly to boost his neutrophils which had gone as low as 0.6. He had a blood test yesterday which showed they have increased greatly to about 37.0 over a period of only three weeks. This level seems extremely high, what does this mean and is it a worry? Obviously he's been told to stop the injections and he's due to have another blood test in six days time.

He's on the Flair trial.

Any information or advice please.

Hi Poohey,

When I got a single injection of Neulasta in the past, my Neuts zoomed from 1.0 to 8.7 in one day. At my next clinic visit, 2 weeks later I was back to normal ANC.

This Wikipedia link has lots of information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutr...

including this snip:

"The average lifespan of inactivated human neutrophils in the circulation has been reported by different approaches to be between 5 and 90 hours.[17] Upon activation, they marginate (position themselves adjacent to the blood vessel endothelium) and undergo selectin-dependent capture followed by integrin-dependent adhesion in most cases, after which they migrate into tissues, where they survive for 1–2 days.[18]"
