I just can't believe going thru all this for a simple infection is all it could be the doctors should have a different plans without scaring someone

Hi Robin

It is scary for everyone and i have no idea what your blood test results were that started the need for more tests but at least here all tests have high/low ranges that require a careful look if you stray from the safe level and they get concerned about WBC and ALC and a few others

In my case as my CLL evolved and we had no idea of what was going on my GP would be concerned about my WBC and ALC and always have a retest two weeks later to ensure it was not just a cold and many times in the early days it would go back to a safe level

In 2017 the WBC went up to 17 and the ALC 14 and stayed there after retesting at which time i was referred to and oncologist and it was not a simple infection anymore

The oncologist did the tests necessary to make a diagnoses and did a very good job of explaining the need for each test and doing his best to calm me

While it was confirmed i had CLL my ALC needed to go above 15 to allow a FISH test to be done and it did a short time later which really concerned me as i had no idea when it would stop but after a series of colds things have settled in at 17 and 14 again and that would appear to be my new normal

I wish you the best of luck and from reading your posts you do seem to be having a difficult time getting the Doctors to communicate with you and if this continues many of us look for a new doctor who has better communication skills
