Hi. This is my first post. After 7 years w&w my platelets have dropped to 46, being 61 five weeks ago. Seeing Dr Claire Dearden for the first time at the Royal Marsden and carried out a bone marrow biopsy there and then. Found it quite a painful experience. Today I feel as if I've been kicked by a horse. Awaiting results.

Bone Marrow Biopsy
I feel for you, I dread them! Horrid but very necessary in your situation.
Take it easy.
Hi Lola
I have to agree with your post and the responses, I found this the most buttock clenching experience ever and I felt such a wimp for squawking. I did ask for sedation as well as local anaesthetic but was told no as it might make me sick! What made matters worse was that he had to go in twice as he couldn't get a sample first time. As jm954 has said, horrid but necessary!
Shooey
I've had two with a local only and never had a problem. I do look forward to the data. Best of luck to you!
My first one three weeks ago was definitely not a pleasant experience. I did not think to ask ahead of time for sedation. Thought I could just ask when I got there..no.. have to get a prescription ahead of time. One mistake I won't make again!! Good luck to you!!
My first BMB included light anesthesia. I could feel it but didn't care. Second time I just had a local but it still hurt and lasted longer because they kept trying and leaving when the local hadn't taken full effect.
Good news. Sort of. It's ITP so steroids not chemo for time being. So relieved.
Well. It turned out I had ITP and platelets of 35. Back to nori to see if 2 weeks of steroids have brought my count up.
