It's been a while since my last update but I'm pleased to say that I have a donor lined up for a stem cell transplant.

A young man from Germany. I am to stay on Ibruitinin for 6 more months and then good to go.

This is wonderful news KAS and I hope it all goes brilliantly.

Respect to the young man in Germany who put himself forward so selflessly to help others.

Best wishes,

Newdawn

4 potential matches came up in 3 days, 3 of which came from Germany. I was told that they actively encourage donor enrolment with paid leave!

Well good for Germany and their initiatives! Even if the guy factored in some time off work it's still a great thing to do! :)

I am so pleased for you and applaud you for being so decisive. We will all be thinking of you.

My son was a stem cell donor for someone with leukaemia when he was 21 and had just finished university. The s/c neupogen injections and resulting expansion of his bone marrow were quite painful but he felt that it was probably one of the most significant things he would ever do in his lifetime. He later donated some lymphocytes to suppress a relapse and his recipient is now well as far as we know. I have to say the Anthony Nolan team were fantastic and looked after him like royalty, especially when he was in hospital on the cell separator at the Royal Free.

It is an amazing thing to do and must be a great feeling.

Germany makes everyone in the army sign up. It is very helpful. The US Military should do the same!
