My first bone marrow procedure included a light anesthesia. I was vaguely aware of the pain but didn't care. My second procedure was done with a local pain shot which partially controlled the pain. I would ask for the happy shot if I could do it again.

Yes, in my case, I was too afraid of the possibility of there being a need to punch numerous times to have the procedure w/o anesthesia. I was unaware of anything that happened--and yet the anesthesia was light enough to not be a problem with being awake fairly soon and not having any hangover from it.
I'm with you on that! I was literally terrified so they gave me a sedative which makes you forget pain. Apparently I was demanding co-codamol for the pain during the procedure but I honestly don't remember a thing!
I have my second BMB coming up on 31st August. The first was OK and I joked to my consultant could I have the same doctor again please, only to be told "Well, they have good and bad days!"
