Carpet Cleaner Brands Recalled for Bacteria Contamination

Hi Folks,

I ran across this warning by accident today but it looks like it is probably still relevant to us immune compromised folk. Several brands of dry carpet cleaner have been recalled because they can contain harmful bacteria, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The brands impacted are: Arm & Hammer, Capture, Healthy Home, Oreck, Resista and Riccar.

The powder in these cleaners is meant to be sprinkled on carpets and rugs to clean and deodorize them, and may contain bacteria that causes respiratory infections. The CPSC says people with healthy immune systems generally don't have to worry, but immunocompromised people could become ill.

The cleaning products were sold at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Oreck, and specialty carpet and vacuum stores across the country from July 2015 through September 2016. The link below contains the original article and a full list of the brands, lot numbers and product names impacted:

goodhousekeeping.com/home-p...

The article ends by recommending that if you have any of these in your cupboards, you should stop using it immediately. The warning is dated Nov 28th, 2016 so I assume there should be none of these products still sitting on shelves in shops.

Take care
