Ian Musgrave, Senior lecturer in Pharmacology, University of Adelaide discusses the science related to garden chemical safety: theconversation.com/are-com...

With CLL, particularly when under treatment, our immune systems can be weakened, making us more susceptible to infection, particularly if we become neutropenic. So do wear a mask and gloves when appropriate, particularly when in contact with organic fertilisers and potting mixes.

I have rather large Camellia bushes. If I don't hose them down before pruning, I end up with lungs full of dust and a respiratory issue that lasts a week or more. Wearing a respirator to mow the lawn has helped too.
