No...not CLL unfortunately... there is a study here in Canada looking at this... I think in myeloid leukemia.

Green tea has shown to have an effect in very early stage 0-1 patients, but you must drink around 15 cups a day ...

I remember that study, it was for CLL and AML. They tested it in vitro and with the higher doses, had 96% mortality for cancer cells. What prompted it was a patient who was in the 'end' stages of CLL who drank dandelion tea and 4 months later, tested and found to be in full remission. From what I've read, they're still waiting on 30 patients to test on. It was a bit odd, it was approved back in 2012 and they just made the announcement back last 2015? The patients name was John DiCarlo and the doctor was Dr. Pandey.

The reason I know something about it is, I'm taking dandelion root pills myself to see what happens. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and am currently in the 'wait and see' stage. I could a chest cold last week and my doctor went ahead and ran another FISH test to see if anything mutated but currently my expectancy is about 25yrs.

I can tell you,  based on personal experience,  it seems to work at slightly higher doses. I do know one thing, my white blood cell count jumped up about 3 fold in just a few days.

It could have been due to the chest cold or the cause of the chest cold.  I have to talk to my Oncologist to find out what's actually going on for certain.

Also,  my red blood cell and platelet count dropped...  Somewhat similar to the effects of Ibrutinib and other CLL treatments!

I was taking 'Nature's Way'  Dandelion Root 525mg. At 525mg/day, everything was fine but when I bumped up the dosage to 1575mg/day (the recommended amount on the bottle,  about 575mg more that Dr. Pandey was testing)  that's when everything kicked in like gang busters.

One other thing before I forget,  I would talk to my Oncologist about its usage and if there could be any unexpected surprises.  I'm still waiting to talk to mind but if I knew the effect was going to be so dramatic,  I DEFINITELY would have let him know before experimenting on myself like that.

The orginal patient had CMML not CLL...

Just spoke with my Oncologist today, he wants me to start a regiment of FCR treatment next week... Monday to be exact. He doesn't care about the fact that my numbers didn't increase until I took the dandelion root. So I'm going to have to put it on hold until after treatment and  see what happens then... they say you're not supposed to take the 2 together because it can interfere.

My blood work showed that my WBC jumped to 470 in just the past few days and that I was slightly iron deficient.

Here's some links that I've found. I remember that Dr. Pandey said that he had cured upwards of 23 ppl . Pandey also said that he was able to 'cure' on person with long term remission but others not so much:

globalnews.ca/news/212574/c...

“Right now we have the one patient doing very well and that’s exciting for him..but not everybody’s getting prolonged responses. How can we make it work in more people? That’s the big question,” she says.

He is even more impressed lately, thanks to 23 success stories with tackling cancer, though he needs more to satisfy scientific standards.

Thanks for supplying the links WillyG, but as Cllcanada says above, the success is in regard to one patient who has CMML, an entirely different blood cancer to CLL.  Furthermore, CLL cells are quite fragile and easily killed in test tube tests as done with the nine patients (again it is not reported what leukaemia these patients have).

Good to hear that research is continuing and thought highly enough of to attract funding, but until there is acceptable evidence of in body efficacy against CLL, we really don't know whether there is any benefit in taking dandelion extract in the form being investigated, let alone orally as a tea...

The thing about Pandey and Hamm, they start off on one thing and end up all over the map. If you read the trial Hamm is working on, it covers leukemia, lymphoma, and melanoma...  a pretty broad range. They're all over the place in their testing.

Tantalising isn't it.  I expect they'll be forced to concentrate on the most promising target - from both effectiveness and potential market opportunity perspectives, which probably counts out CLL.

You really need to seek out the scientific/medical research papers they have had published to accurately determine what they have achieved.  The facts inevitably get distorted when published in the popular press, sadly...
