My son's platelet count has dropped from 180000 on 18th Sep to 151000 by 21st Sep. Is it a cause of concern.

Blood counts vary what condition has he got?

Since having cll my platelets have varied tremendously from 75 to 120

Normally concern is not expressed until they drop below 100.

More info on his condition etc would be useful for those sharing experiences etc.

Should you be concerned discuss with your medical team.

Hi PN,

There is a lot of variation in platelets and the drop, while quite a bit, does not put the platelet count below what is considered normal. The take away, with out knowing what your son's history of blood work was, is to continue to monitor platelets to see if the drop is a trend or whether they will bounce back or even stay at the low level. No reason to panic - just keep watching for a trend.

Not likely. Follow the trend. These are both very safe and normal levels.

I am following the trend and my son's platelets have dropped constantly. The counts on January 2016 were 188 and yesterday they were 67. Being off Ibrutinib for a whole month did not help I guess. He is back on his med 2 pills a day. Hemoglobin was 144 yesterday, which reassures me somehow.
