Tracking your body temperature through your smartphone using an infrared ear drum thermometer earpiece

Yet another example of how we can extend the use of smartphones that we probably already own, to help us document our health for sharing with our doctor/specialist:

"Through its accompanying app (both iOS and Android), the Tympani allows you to keep a record of temperatures, track symptoms or enter detailed notes into the health journal. You can also share your records securely with your physician or virtual doctor.":

Expected shipping date is this December and the company "says it also plans to develop a weight scale and blood pressure monitor run from the same app in the not too distant future."

It remains to be seen how accurate and repeatable this infrared ear thermometer that reads the temperature of the ear drum (or tympanic membrane) proves to be, though I would anticipate more reliable results than what can be achieved by much more expensive smart watches.

Hi Neil,

I just had to write seeing your "hay" picture -- It reminds me of an anonymous radio confession when years ago a group of children came across a farmers field with these "barrels of hay".

They found that if you turned them slightly and pushed the barrels would roll down a hill and into the bushes at the bottom of the field - some more well aimed barrels would pass through the gate and across a country road into the next farmers field.

Just imagine driving along that pretty country road -- when suddenly a couple of hay barrels would cross in front of your bicycle !! - Different times.

By the way -- I hope you are still keeping your illness at bay and enjoying life.

Marty
