For the first time, a team of scientists have shown by actually measuring the amount of sleep and then exposing individuals to nasal drops containing a cold virus, that sleep-deprived individuals are more than four times as likely to catch a cold than well-rested individuals. Earlier research relied on subjective (and unreliable) sleep measurement.
