Hours of Sleep and Susceptibility to the Common Cold

For the first time, a team of scientists have shown by actually measuring the amount of sleep and then exposing individuals to nasal drops containing a cold virus, that sleep-deprived individuals are more than four times as likely to catch a cold than well-rested individuals. Earlier research relied on subjective (and unreliable) sleep measurement.

As someone who regularly misses out on whole nights of sleep owing to personal circumstances, this does not surprise me. Peggy.
