The nutritional value of potatoes

Another informative article from Gerson Institute in San Diego, California.

More and more people are beginning to realize that our health as individuals and as a species is inextricably linked to the quality of the food we eat and the health of soil on which we all depend. Unfortunately, modern agriculture still clings to the toxic treadmill of insecticides and simple fertilizers. As more and more people wake up to new ways of eating and living, this too will change. Until then, buy organic potatoes. If possible, buy local potatoes. Better yet, grow your own potatoes!

A wise man once said, "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."

Arthur Schopenhauer

Dr. Max Gerson's teachings and his work is not only about coffee enemas but the benefits of vegetarian organic diet.

Oh Dear... a hot potato...

That quote has never been attributed to Schopenhauer...

Interesting article on potatoes and that bowl of baked potatoes certainly looks appetising, even without the usual condiments. I also found it interesting to read the "What is the evidence?" section of the American Cancer Society article on Gershon Therapy, in particularly the sentence "Based on currently available evidence, diet is likely to play a greater role in preventing cancer than in treating it."

There can certainly be a thread of truth in controversial and challenging ideas, but it takes subsequent carefully controlled studies to tease out the full truth.

I really enjoy eating potatoes but I also like to add butter, sour cream etc. I am afraid they are not as healthy for me when I get done!
