I am being considered for a trial using FC and Ofatumumab at the Freeman Newcastle. I live in Cumbria. There is no help with travel/parking.

My wife and I are in our seventies, parking spaces are limited. Does anyone know if we could use a disabled space during the time I am having my treatment. The treatment is over a 6 month period. The disabled spaces are nearer the hospital.

Jim, the Freeman Hospital are a Centre of Excellence for cancer care and offer really responsive facilities for chemo patients. Here is a link with details of the service. It also has a link to the Macmillan Advice Service situated there (and Maggies Centre) who I feel sure will advise on dedicated parking for the disabled and reclaiming travelling costs (if you qualify for them). Hope it helps and good luck with the treatment.

Hi When I was having treatment I was advised that I could apply for a Blue Badge. I thought well I've nothing to lose but when I got it (for 12mths) it was a Godsend. I was treated at Barts in the City of London with CCTV cameras every 6inches and traffic wardens every 6 yards so parking isn't easy normally but with the badge it was fine. Best wishes
