Suggestions needed in East Texas

I live in East Texas. I just turned 80 and have 3 adult kids and 7 grandkids (3 out of college) 1 in college, 3 in high school. I was diagnosed with CLL In 2004. We have been in a W&W period until the fall of last year. My White Count went from 18,000 to 28,700 in Oct 2022. My oncologist suggested we might consider taking chemo pills call Zanubrutinib a BTK inhibitor. Last blood test from my GP doctor read 34,000. Does any one have any experience taking this drug? I really do not want to take any chemo pills. The cost I was told at that time was $15,000 per month. Wife and I being retired bring in about $30k a year.

Does anyone have any experience with a holistic approach to CLL.? Does anyone know of a holistic doctor or practitioner in East Texas, Dallas area or Houston area? I have tried a protocol with certain vitamins and a repurposed drug. That did not work.

on that protocol for 3 months.

Does anyone have any information that might be helpful to me.

kindest regards,

ET weatherman

Hi. I’m taking Zanubrutinib. Two weeks in. No side effects at all yet. If your income is 30k as refeflected on your tax returns with adjusted gross income, you may qualify for free medication from the manufacturer. Your dr or hospital knows how to do this. Is your dr a CLL specialist? If not please consider seeing one. The CLL society can refer you. Also, most people post on CLL Support not CLL America. The latter is sort of dead.

Thank you for your information. I am seeing a CLL specialist. We have talked about the cost. I may qualify for this for free. Thank you for your information. I appreciate you.

I can’t offer any advice regarding a holistic doctor but if I lived in Texas I’d make an appointment at MD Anderson, which is arguably the best cancer center in the world!

Good luck,

Mark

You are correct Mark about MD Anderson. I have had 2 other types of cancer. First I was surgery for bladder cancer. Took bladder out built another bladder out of part of my small intestine and all is good after 15 years. Then I had a melanoma on back of right leg. Surgery to remove it successfully. Thank you for you information Mark. I will consider this too for the CLL. I am about 200 miles from MDA

Kindest regards

Bob
