He has been very well since the transplant. Two years after transplant he was diagnosed as being Autistic. He starts Secondary school in September. He will be a teenager in November and I wonder how he will deal with various issues.

Hi Diane. My daughter too was born with Biliary Atresia and had a Kasai and bowel op at 7 days old. She also has Cerebral Palsey but is totally inspiring to everyone that she meets. She is now 22 years old and has just moved into supported living housing. Every young person has something special to give. I just wish sometimes that life was a little kinder. I'm sure your son will take on the challenges of his life, one day at a time. x

Thank you for your reply. I think our children have been brought into this world to give something special. Daniel is a lovely boy who only sees good in the world. I am sure he will continue to surprise me with what he achieves. I wish you and your family best wishes for the future. x

Hi Danielsmum, My son Charlie like yours had Biliary Atresia, Kasai, transplant. He's 11 now and we are looking at high schools now with him. He has learning difficulties but as yet is undiagnosed, His big sister is autistic (highly functioning), she's at catering college, has a part-time job and has just started driving lessons! I was told she would require care all her life but she seems to be doing just fine. I, like you, wonder how Charlie will cope as he will get older, but Emily gives me hope that Charlie will be okay too.

Hi Charlies Mum, thank you for your response to my question. It is really encouraging to hear that Charlie's sister Emily is coping well with her autism. We are 4 weeks into Secondary School for Daniel and he has coped better than I thought, but I cannot help worrying about him. I hope everything goes well for both Charlie and Emily. Best wishes Daniel's Mum
