My daughter experiences fainting and has been sent for an ECG. Has anyone experienced fainting for no diagnosed medical reason? She is nearly 19, nearly 18 years post transplant. Doctor's keep saying she's stressed but recent medication changes, would they cause this? Please share your ideas or suggestions or experiences.

Post transplant fainting
Hi heather45,
Several things could contribute to fainting, e.g. low blood pressure (especially on standing - not uncommon in 19 year old girls), anaemia (easily checked for on a routine blood test and usually quite straightforward to treat). Difficult to say which medications might be increasing the risk of fainting without knowing the details of what she's taking, but would be helpful for her to be reviewed by an expert for a thorough assessment.
My only thought from my own experience is that my son's magnesium has been on the low side since taking Tacrolimus as an immunosuppressant post transplant, and I think abnormal magnesium levels may also sometimes lead to feeling tired and faint. Magnesium is not always checked on routine blood tests so worth seeing if this is needed.
Best of luck to you and your daughter, I hope her symptoms resolve soon.
Her doctor is sending her for an ECG and maybe a tilting table heart reading this week. I can ask Birmingham through her specialist nurse to check magnesium levels as I do remember her having a problem with this in puberty. Shes on ciclosporin immunosupprant. I'll let you know how she gets on.
Best of luck, glad they are looking into it. I hope all goes well.
