My lil junior be one next week he has alpha 1, I notice his breathing is fast and loud at times and out of breathe while crawling!

He has had chest X-ray come back fine ! He going for heart scan in few weeks , if he had asthma would show up on these ? Any other ppl children the same .

Hi Natalie, Matthew has alpha 1 and we've had similar concerns over the years. He had several chest infections until he was about 4. Kings picked up a heart murmuraand we we're referred to guys and st thomas who found nothing. However, it has since been established that the murmur comes out when he has a fever although if he races around now, especially if he's just getting over an illness he'll complain his chest hurts. Matt also intermittently gets a cough at night so we were concerned about asthma, our local gp gave a ventolin pump but it had no effect. We mentioned this to kings in the summer who are regerring him to a respiratory consultant to be on the safe side. What hospital are you under ? Have you mentioned it to them? Good luck I know how worrying it is. Xx

Kody also has alpha-1 and is the same, as alpha-1 can effect the lungs your best saying to your little boys consultant as the cold weather comes in kody is plagued with chest infection and is on inhalers anti biotics and even getting nebulisers.. Fingers crossed you get to the bottom of this x

We'll he doesn't have a cold but been to the doc they test him saying heart was bit fast then normal when went to see consultant he check chest was clear but did play with and get him to crawl. Had X-Ray came bk fine . He got heart scan few weeks think pick something up ? X x

We are under kings as well blue but we see consultant by us who works along side them we be seeing them soon x

I've never had any luck with local consultants! Well that was when we lived in Essex, haven't met a local one here yet.they would always try to give him ibuprofen and Id have to fight them to ring kings as they would never believe me that he couldn't have it. They'd then moan about kings! When's your next kings appt? Is it just a scan or ecg? Xx
