A MPS is a Myocardial Perfusion Scan, look how well your heart pumps, look at the flow of blood to your heart, see how your heart functions when it has to work harder- for example when you are being more active, help to diagnose or rule out coronary heart disease.

Very scarey. I have not had a heart attack or anything like angina when i had the test. Was having palputations & shortness of breath. Could not get the needle into my arm, took 4 goes before he found a vein. it took 13 weeks before i got my results. Doc wants me to have an angiogram but im to scared.

Hi, don't worry about an angiogram I had one. My MPS test was like having an angina attack, they inject you with a drug to it make it work like exercise and puts pressure on your heart to see how much it can take, that is the bad bit the other is ok.

I have just looked up this test on the internet and it doesn't sound very pleasant. Did you have to have an exercise one and a resting one? I don't know anything about them at all.

Hi Aliwally I had a resting one, because of family history i was not able to take the exercise one,( 8 out of 10 deaths due to heart problems. It took over 3 hours with having to wait after injection. Got a cub biscuit & a drink afterwards. It was frightening i think because of the unknown
