My Doctor is generally unwilling to arrange for a BT for Ch. because he says that I have no family history and that my lifestyle does not justify it.
Can anyone suggest a way round this ?

I would go to another GP in the practice and insist. If I had not persuaded my GP to do a blood test (I had no family history, weighed 8.5st) then I would never have known I had a cholesterol level of 14.8 and had familial hypercholesterolaemia. Think your doctor is being very naive!
This seems a bit odd, GP's are normally keen, especially if you are over 40..I think it's also something to do with meeting targets.
You could go and get it done at a pharmacy, although probably not as accurate.
Tks - I think I will go back and be firmer
Change your GP if you are not satisfied with him. It is your perogative. He is probably thinking of saving money for his practice. Prewarned is prearmed tell him, and he will be saving money in the long run if you are aware of any problems and can sort them out!
