Hi, I had a heart X-ray but that doesn’t give enough detail, I also had an echocardiogram which shows a lot more detail but even that did not show that I have a narrowed artery which showed up on a CT scan with dye an angiogram.
Hope this helps x
Hi thanks for your reply , I did wonder about this ,is an angiogram a risky process? How did tbey treat the narrowed artery ? What symptoms did you have?
Hi there are a couple of types one where they insert a tube in your groin, I don’t honestly know enough about that one. I had a 3D cardiac scan with dye, they inject beta blocker to slow the heart down then injected two lots of dye. You have a wave of heat that goes from head to toe but nothing to worry about, I was really anxious about having it done but was all over in 20 minutes and I felt fine after it.
The narrowed artery it depends as to what extent it shows, fortunately at this point my cardiologist said lifestyles so on a Mediterranean diet and statins.
I know it can all be very scary but you’re in the best place once you are on a cardiologists radar. Once given the go ahead exercise and eating healthy, I have cut out caffeine and alcohol and losing weight as I am over weight.
Hope this helps, it’s all new for me so I know how anxious it all can be. Always here if you need to talk.
Hi thanks for sharing all this ,its very helpfull and tbats so good you were properly investigated. I think it helps knowing what the issue is. I have a good GP now so hopefully can get to tbe bottom of it. I have noticed with a lot if heart issues it often boils down to diet and exercize,I do think having a lot of stress over a long period has an impact too. I wish you all tbe best on your healrg journey. and thanks for sharing with me.
Yes my cardiologist said stress plays the biggest factor and to avoid at all costs, which really worries me to be honest because I haven’t handled this news well and I’m naturally a very anxious person. Hopefully that will settle down once I get used to the situation plus the people on this forum are amazing so keep getting in touch. I was also blown away by the helpline the cardia nurses are wonderful and very informative, give them a ring also.
