What is high cholesterol

Hi,
Below is UK cholesterol numbers:
"It is recommended that healthy adults should have a total cholesterol level below 5 mmol/L. In the UK>
Three out of five adults have a total cholesterol level of 5 mmol/L or above.
The average cholesterol level is about 5.7 mmol/L, which can be a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease."
Anything above these numbers are considered high.!!
If your doctors think you need it, they will prescribe something called statins, which are supposed to lower your cholesterol. You can also make some tweaks to your diet - those disgusting Benecol drinks are supposed to help (they are so vile, they had better help!), and their margarine and stuff, if you don't mind eating margarine! Also oatmeal is supposed to really help, if you can bear it. Really, the sort of guidelines they give for a healthy diet - as little processed food as possible, lots of fruit and vegetables, as little saturated fat as possible, lean protein, etc, is all supposed to help.
