Health education is necessary. GP normally talks about total cholesterol, this is the main reason every one ask questions on total cholesterol!!!
A GP may request cholesterol and lipid test but when the results are available GP may not go into details, GP training is also necessary to discuss blood test results and life style change. At the same time we can Google to learn ore as well.
Well now they know that they need to get more details and should ask for a copy of their blood work results. GPs are there to serve people.
Every country in the world have their guide lines. I have been in a heart clinic in Singapore, the cardiologist give medication as well as printed blood test results, there is no free medicine, there is payment depending upon your level of income, their guide lines works.
UK, NHs has it's guide line and it works. we have to ask for printed bold results, it is not given out automatically.
Multi media play it's part and it also works. We are very lucky to have NHS
The other day an old lady, 88 could not get out of bed, we did not call an ambulance as it was not an emergency.
My wife and I took her to A&E. This old lady is still in hospital undergoing treatment medication and all the necessary tests.
NHS, doctors, staff and GPs do serve very well.
