Last week The Lancet told us the pills really were safe... but now a rival medical journal says they've got it wrong

Last week medical journal Lancet said benefits outweigh the harm

Now the BMJ has cast doubt, claiming adverse side effects are more common than the study implied

Statins are most commonly prescribed NHS medication with six million taking them every day to prevent heart attacks and strokes
